It's Your Idea
Digital marketing · Ballarat

Digital marketing in Ballarat, without the mystery.

Search, ads, local listings, email and the reporting that tells you whether any of it worked — run by the same people who build and host the site underneath. One supplier, one invoice, and numbers you can check yourself.

The honest version

Most of it is five things.

Digital marketing is a phrase broad enough to mean almost nothing, which is useful if you are selling it and unhelpful if you are buying it. For a business working in and around Ballarat, it is a short list:

  • Be findable when someone searches. Organic search, which is slow to build and cheap to hold.
  • Appear properly in the map. For a local trade or clinic this often matters more than the website does.
  • Pay for attention when you need it now. Ads work immediately and stop the day you stop paying.
  • Keep talking to people who already know you. Email and social media, done consistently — far cheaper than finding new customers, and routinely ignored.
  • Be able to see what happened. Without this the other four are guesswork with an invoice attached.

Everything else in the category is a variation on one of those. If someone is selling you a sixth thing, ask which of the five it feeds.

What we run

The pieces, and what each is actually for.

Search (SEO)

The technical floor, local signals, and pages worth ranking. No bought links and no guaranteed positions — we set out exactly what we will and will not do. How our SEO works →

Google Ads

Useful when you need the phone to ring before search has built, or for terms organic will never win. Management is quoted separately from the ad spend, which goes to Google, not to us. Google Ads management in Ballarat →

Local search & Google Business Profile

Categories, service areas, reviews and consistent details. For a local business this is the largest free lever there is, and the one most often left half-finished. Why the profile outworks the site →

Content that earns the visit

Pages and articles written to answer what people actually search, not to hit a word count. Reviewed before publication, and never mass-generated. What Google's spam update targeted →

Email

Keeping in touch with the people who already bought from you, at a sensible interval, from a domain that is set up to actually arrive. Why your email lands in spam →

Social media

A steady presence on the platforms your customers actually use, planned around what you sell rather than daily noise — and always pointing back to ground you own. Why social should lead back to your site →

Websites that convert

Traffic is wasted on a page that does not turn visitors into calls. We build and fix the site itself, so the landing page is part of the campaign rather than an afterthought. Web design in Ballarat →

Reporting you can read

Analytics, Search Console and Ads pulled into one monthly report in plain English, plus the real positions from the suburbs you serve. The dashboard is yours. See Insights →

Why us rather than a marketing agency

We built the thing underneath it.

Most marketing agencies do not touch the website. They send recommendations to whoever does, wait, and report on what happened in the meantime. That handover is where months go.

We build, host and monitor sites as the main business. So when the fix is a slow template, a page the crawler cannot reach or a form that has been quietly failing, it gets fixed rather than added to somebody's backlog. And the reporting tool is one we wrote for our own client work before we sold it to anyone else.

Jamie, who runs it, holds Google's Foundations of Digital Marketing and E-commerce certificate and a Bachelor's degree in IT, and has been doing this work from Ballarat since 2004. More about Jamie →

And you deal with the people doing the work. We are a Ballarat team, not a call centre with an account manager relaying messages — the person who plans your campaign is the person you ring.

Two ways to buy it

For your own business, or under your brand.

Ballarat businesses

You are the client. We work on your search presence, your profile and your campaigns, and you get a monthly report you can actually read. Web design in Ballarat →

Agencies and studios

We do the work, you keep the relationship. Reports carry your brand and your domain, and we never appear in front of your client. How the white-label side works →

SEO starts at $299 a month, including reporting. Ads management is quoted on the size of the account and sits separately from the spend itself. Everything else is quoted after we have looked at what you have, because a quote written before that is a guess. No lock-in contract. Full pricing →

Common questions

The things people ask first.

What does digital marketing actually include?

The five above: search, the map, ads, email and social, and being able to see what happened. Everything else is a variation on one of them.

Do I need ads and SEO, or can I pick one?

You can pick one. Ads buy attention immediately and stop the moment you stop paying. Search is slow, compounding and cheaper to hold. Running ads while search builds is common, but it is a budget decision rather than a rule — and we will say so if one of them is not worth it for you.

How much does it cost?

SEO from $299 a month including reporting. Ads management quoted on the size of the account, separate from the spend, which goes to Google. Everything else quoted after we look. The free audit is the sensible first step and costs nothing.

Will you lock me into a contract?

No. Month to month. A business that needs a contract to keep clients has a different problem.

Do you only work with Ballarat businesses?

No. We are based in Ballarat and work across regional Victoria and Australia-wide, plus agencies reselling under their own brand.
