SEO you can check, from someone who shows you the numbers.
Search work for Ballarat businesses and for agencies who resell it under their own brand. No bought links, no tricks, no monthly mystery. You get the same dashboard we use, the real positions from the suburbs you actually serve, and a report that says what changed and why. From $299 a month, quoted after we look.
We do not play in the black hat world.
It matters because the damage lands on you, not on whoever sold it. Google penalties attach to your domain. If an agency buys links into your site and disappears, you are the one explaining to Google why they are there.
So, plainly, here is what we will not do, whatever the brief says:
- Buy links, or sell you a package of them. Paid links that pass ranking signals are against Google's spam policies, and private blog networks are the same thing wearing a hat.
- Spin up doorway pages. Forty near-identical town pages with the suburb swapped is a named spam pattern. We build a page for a place when there is something true to say about working there.
- Touch your reviews. No incentives, no filtering who gets asked, no writing them. Google removes reviews influenced by payment, discounts or free goods, and the ACCC treats manipulated reviews as misleading conduct.
- Mass-generate pages and call it content. Google's August spam update went after exactly that. We wrote up what it actually targeted and changed how we publish because of it.
- Stuff keywords, hide text, or cloak. None of it survives, and all of it is your risk to carry afterwards.
- Promise you a position. Nobody controls Google's index. Anyone quoting you a guaranteed number one is either buying their way there or counting on you not checking.
What is left is unglamorous and it works: make the site fast and readable, answer the questions people actually search, get the local signals right, and earn mentions by being worth mentioning.
Four things, done properly, every month.
The technical floor
Speed, mobile, crawlability, structured data, internal linking, the errors in Search Console nobody has opened. Unsexy, and it is where most sites are losing before they start. Why speed comes first →
Local signals
Google Business Profile taken seriously, categories, service areas, and the same name, address and phone everywhere you appear. For a local trade this outranks the website. The short list that does the work →
Pages worth ranking
A page per service and per area you genuinely serve, written from what you actually do. Not spun, not padded, and reviewed before it goes near your site.
Measurement you can check
Real positions from the suburbs you serve, the competitors sitting above you, and a monthly report in plain English. The dashboard is yours, not a screenshot we email.
Search stopped being ten blue links.
A large share of searches now end on the results page. Google answers directly, the map pack takes the local intent, and the click you used to get from position three may never happen. That is not a reason to give up on search. It changes what you are optimising for.
Two things matter more than they did. Being the source an answer is built from — clear, specific, well-structured pages that a model can quote, with the facts stated plainly rather than buried in adjectives. And the surfaces a summary cannot replace: your Google Business Profile, your reviews, your phone number, the jobs you can show. Nobody buys a plumber from a paragraph.
We wrote more on this in what happens when customers ask AI instead of Google. The practical answer is the same either way: be genuinely useful about a narrow thing, and be findable in the places a machine cannot summarise away.
The dashboard is part of the deal, not an upsell.
Every SEO engagement includes an Insights single-site licence — the Small Business plan, normally $29 a month — and the monthly report that comes with it. It pulls Google Analytics, Search Console and Google Ads into one place and writes the summary in plain English.
The part that matters most for local work is geo rank tracking. Search Console can only tell you a country-level average position, which is close to useless when your customers are in Wendouree and Alfredton. Insights runs the actual search from a named suburb through a SERP data provider, so you see where you really sit for “window repairs Ballarat” as someone in that suburb sees it — plus who is ranking above you and whether the map pack is showing at all.
That last part is the useful bit. Knowing you are eighth is mildly interesting. Knowing the three businesses above you and what their pages do differently is a work plan.
Pair it with Monitoring and the site itself is watched too — because an SSL certificate that quietly expires or a site that slows to a crawl will undo a quarter of search work without anyone noticing. What is worth watching →
For your own business, or under your brand.
Ballarat businesses
You are the client. We work on your site, your Google profile and your local presence, and you get the dashboard and a monthly report you can actually read. Meet in person if you would rather — we are here. Web design in Ballarat →
Agencies and studios
We do the search work, you keep the relationship. Reports carry your brand and your domain, and we never appear in front of your client. Same rules apply — nothing we would not do on our own site. How the white-label side works →
From $299 a month, including the Insights licence and reporting. We quote properly after the audit, because a five-page trades site and a two-hundred-product store are not the same job and pretending otherwise helps nobody. No lock-in contract — if it is not working you should be able to leave.
The things people ask first.
How long before it does anything?
Technical fixes and Google Business Profile work can move things in weeks. Ranking for a competitive term takes months. Anyone promising otherwise is selling you something else. You will see the measurements from the first month either way, which is the point of including the dashboard.
Can you guarantee first place?
No, and nobody can. We will tell you where you sit now, what is realistically reachable and what it would take. If a term is not winnable we will say so rather than bill you to chase it.
What do I actually get each month?
Work on the site and your local presence, the positions you hold in the suburbs you serve, the competitors above you, and a written summary of what changed and what is next. The dashboard is live, so you are not waiting on us to know how it is going.
Do I need a new website first?
Often not. Run the free audit and we will tell you honestly whether the site you have can carry the work. If it cannot, we will say that too — see what a website actually costs.
Do you only work with Ballarat businesses?
No. We are based in Ballarat and work across regional Victoria and Australia-wide, plus agencies reselling under their own brand.
Is there a contract?
Month to month. Cancel when you like. The dashboard licence is part of the service, so it stops when the service does — though you are welcome to keep it on its own.
Find out where you actually rank.
Start with the free audit. Fifteen seconds, no sign-up, and it will tell you whether search work is even the right spend right now.
